FOLDED SELF-MAILER

A Folded Self-Mailer is formed of panels when an unbound sheet of paper is folded together and sealed (but not bound with staples or glue) to form a letter-size mailpiece. The bottom must be the final fold, with the exception of oblong pieces with the final fold on the right.

Wafer Seals:

Two or three (most mailpieces will require two). The wafer seals may be opaque, paper, translucent paper, vinyl or plastic and must not contain perforations.

Paper weight:

Up to one ounce: must be at least 70lb book weight (28lb bond weight)

Over one ounce: must be at least 80lb book weight (31lb bond weight)

NOTE: When the address panel is the last panel, a third wafer seal is required.

BOOKLET (LETTER SIZE)

A Booklet consists of multiple sheets or pages bound to create a nearly uniformly thick mail piece. Booklets are open on three sides, but must not be open at the bottom edge, with the exception of oblong mailpieces.

Acceptable binding methods which are compatible with USPS machinable processing are:

Saddle-stitching (permanent fastening with at least two staples in the manufacturing fold)

Perfect binding

Pressed glue

(Spiral bound booklets are NOT machinable so would not qualify for automation prices.)

Wafer Seals:

Three. The wafer seals may be opaque, paper, translucent paper, vinyl or plastic and must not contain perforations.

ENVELOPE

A letter may be inserted into an envelope meeting the above dimensions. An unenveloped letter-size mailpiece must be sealed or glued completely along all four sides.

CARD

A Card is a mailpiece consisting of single sheet of paper. To qualify for First class Postcard rates, the maximum size is

4 1/4 x 6. All cards exceeding these dimensions will be mailed as a letter. The postcards must be prepared from paper stock meeting the industry standard for a basis weight of 75 pounds.

ADDRESS AREA

Designs for Letters, Folded Self-Mailers, Cards or Booklets must contain a blank rectangular area measuring approximately

1 1/2 x 3 1/2 for addressing. This space need to be place as follows:

At least 1/2 from each edge

At least 5/8 from bottom of mailpiece and the top edge
